Steam Trap Surveys

Information about the operability of steam traps allows you to:
• Minimize steam losses due to timely detection of leaks in the steam trap valve and replace the steam trap with a serviceable one;
• Ensure maximum heat transfer of equipment due to detection of heat exchanger flooding and replacement of the steam trap with a more efficient one;
• Plan the repair budget and maintain the required number of steam traps in the operational stock.
Prima Trading has the necessary equipment (ultrasonic tester, pyrometer, thermal imager) and trained specialists to inspect the performance of all types of steam traps (float, thermodynamic, bimetallic, thermostatic and inverted bucket).
How the inspection is carried out:
• Checking the technical condition of the enterprise's steam and condensate system;
• Assessing the efficiency of using heat and energy resources (steam);
• Checking the operability of the installed steam traps and determining the amount of heat carrier (steam) lost;
• Developing recommendations aimed at optimizing/modernizing the steam and condensate system;
• Developing recommendations for organizing condensate collection and return.
Prima Trading's specialists, who have many years of experience in inspecting the steam equipment of the food, petrochemical and other industries, conduct inspections and testing using modern instrumental methods. Based on the results of the survey, a report is provided with recommendations for eliminating deficiencies, measures aimed at energy saving, optimization and energy efficiency of the steam equipment, as well as calculations with economic justification from the use of the proposed equipment.
Diagnostic method:
![]() |
• Visual - simple and at the same time convenient for checking steam traps of cyclic operation (intermittent operation) that are jammed/broken in the closed position of the condensate drainage mechanism. It requires the presence of an olivine pipe glass on the condensate drain line. Also, the disadvantage is that secondary boiling steam can be mistaken for steam breakthrough through the steam trap, especially at high pressure drops;

• Thermal imaging - suitable for inspection of steam traps with thermostatic condensate drainage mechanism, and detection of jammed/broken steam traps of different actions in the closed position of the condensate drainage mechanism. Requires a complete analysis of the pressure in the condensate lines to exclude the line backing up with higher backpressure further down the condensate line;
|
![]() |
• Ultrasonic - performed by a specialized ultrasonic tester ADCA UTT-100 and is the most advanced inspection method. It determines any condition of the steam trap, whether it is jammed in the closed or open position of all types of steam trap action, or demonstrates the correct operation of the steam trap.
|
Our team usually uses a symbiosis of these inspection methods, combining visual, thermal and ultrasonic inspection as the most advanced solution that provides the best results when inspecting steam traps.
How to order the inspection:
1. Submission of an application - write to us: info@primatrading.com.ua or contact us by phone: +38 (044) 353-55-52 або +38 (067) 521-67-21 ;
2. Engineers visit and inspect the steam equipment and condensate system;
3. Provision of a report and development of recommendations aimed at optimizing/modernizing the steam and condensate system. Development of recommendations for the organization of condensate collection and return.
4. Providing a certificate of completion.
